Notts Pride returns to city with 'eclectic' line-up

The annual celebration of the LGBTQ+ community will return to Nottingham for its 28th year

Pride celebrations return to Nottingham with bands set to perform on a new stage.

Notts Pride, which celebrates the LGBTQ+ community, began in the Hockley area of the city in 1997 and has taken place there every year until 2024.

This year's event, which kicks off on Saturday 26 July, will return to Sneinton after last year's debut to allow for a larger crowd, organisers said.

They added The Grove, an independent music venue that opened its doors last year, would host a new acoustic stage with an "eclectic" line-up.

A parade through the city centre will start the celebrations, beginning in Lister Gate and finishing in Sneinton.

Pride celebrations moved to Sneinton in 2024

Among the line-up will be GIRLBAND! from Nottingham, who performed at Nottinghamshire Pride in 2023.

Actor Laquarn Lewis, who stars as Lady Die in the BBC series What It Feels Like for a Girl - based on the memoirs of Hucknall-born Paris Lees - will also be giving a speech, the organisers said.

Leigh Ellis, chair of Nottinghamshire Pride, said: "It's incredibly important for us to use the annual Notts Pride celebrations to spotlight amazing local talent, as well as some of the leading stars from across the wider LGBTQ+ community, and this line-up is the perfect example of that.

"This year we're excited to also be introducing a new acoustic stage, offering visitors another way to enjoy the day's festivities.

"Whether you prefer high-energy foot stomping performances, or a more chilled reflective experience, it's set to be a brilliant day centred around coming together in celebration and support."
