The new systems will replace the need for various paper forms

Two separate systems for immigration and population management have been merged and fully digitalised, the States of Guernsey has said.

It means there is now a single application for immigration and work permits.

The changes are part of a policy letter approved by the States in October 2022, which instructed Home Affairs to merge the services where appropriate.

More upgrades to the systems were expected towards the end of this year and next, said the States.

The new systems will replace the need for various paper forms and it means incoming workers will only need one permit covering both immigration and population management.

During the additional work later this year, those applying for permits to work in Alderney, Herm and Sark, or for licences under the six-month visa exemption, will need to fill out the paper applications.
