In the centre-right section of the building, there is a prominent sign with the logo and name “Outwood Academy Adwick” displayed on the brown brick portion.

Two schools in Doncaster have been forced to close following a water main burst.

Outwood Primary Academy Woodlands and Outwood Academy Adwick told parents of the closures due to the issue on Great North Road on Thursday morning.

A post on social media said further updates on afternoon classes would follow once it had been established how long the problem would take to resolve.

Yorkshire Water apologised for the inconvenience caused by the burst, which it said was affecting customers living in the DN6 postcode, and said it was working to restore supplies "as soon as possible".

A spokesperson for the firm said: "Our team is on site to carry out the repair and supply is being returned to customers.

"We understand how inconvenient this can be and we would like to apologise to customer and commuters and thank them for their patience as we complete this important repair and restore normal supply as quickly as possible."

The firm was working closely with schools and local businesses to keep them informed, the spokesperson added.

A post on social media from Yorkshire Water earlier said customers in the affected area "may have low pressure or no water".

"Once it's fixed, your water may be cloudy or discoloured - you can clear this by running your tap for a few minutes," the post added.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said its fire station on Quarry Lane in Adwick-le-Street was also affected and had "little to no access to water".

A fire service spokesperson said: "Extra water bottles are to be delivered to the station until the situation resolves."
