Man seriously injured in town centre assault

A police cordon is in place following a serious assault in a Derbyshire town centre.
Officers were called to the Market Place in Ilkeston at 02:10 BST on Sunday, and man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police said the area is likely to be cordoned off for "some time" and may cause disruption to pedestrians.
People are being advised to take alternative routes whilst officers remain in the area.
