New soft play centre to open at Jersey's Waterfront

A soft play facility is set to open at the Waterfront next month, providing an alternative for families following the announced closure of the play area at Fort Regent.

The new centre, named Tintos Soft Play, will be based in the former Arcadia and WYSIWYG premises and is scheduled to open at the start of October.

Lee Henry, the chief executive of the Jersey Development Company, said the new facility is "much-needed" and will deliver an "all weather leisure facility to serve the community".

This opening of the new play park is part of government efforts to provide continuity of indoor leisure options for families, ahead of the regeneration of Fort Regent.

Seven days a week

The existing soft play area at the fort is set to close on 29 September.

Tintos Soft Play, run by an independent local operator, will cater to children aged 0 to 12, and will include a dedicated baby play area, a sensory zone and an interactive play area.

The venue will be open seven days a week, and will also feature slides, climbing walls, rope bridges, and crawl-through tubes. A seated café and a party space are also included.

JDC's chief executive, Lee Henry, said that the company is "delighted" to see the transformation of the space into a "family-focused amenity".

Funding for the new play zone comes from proceeds of the Jersey Development Company's (JDC) College Gardens site.

Previous investments from the profits have contributed to projects such as the new skateboard park at Les Quennevais and public-realm improvements in Midvale Road.

The opening of the new centre follows calls for more places for children to play, and comes after the recent closure of the long-standing Amaizin' Adventure Park.
