Police are appealing for dashcam footage after a 76-year-old man was found seriously injured and his car stolen in Mansfield.

Nottinghamshire Police said the victim was discovered by a member of the public in a service area across the road from Tansley Heath, at about 12:30 BST on 18 June.

Emergency services were called, and the man was taken to hospital for treatment.

The victim's vehicle - a black Vauxhall Mokka - was later located and recovered about half a mile (0.8km) away from where he was found, police said.

Det Sgt Gemma Patterson said: "A man in his 70s was found lying in the road with very serious injuries and his car missing, so it's clear something happened.

"We're determined to discover who or what was responsible for him being left in this state, so that we can get some justice for the victim and his family.

"While his vehicle was ultimately discovered around half a mile away some time after, we're currently working on the theory that it was taken during a robbery."

Police said it wanted to hear from anyone who drove through the area at about midday on 18 June and might have inadvertently captured evidence on their dashcam.
