A man has been charged over the death of a cyclist in a hit and-run crash four years ago.

Andell Goulbourne, 59, was struck by a car in Washwood Heath Road, Birmingham, on the evening of 30 July 2020, and died at the scene.

Kashif Khan from Birmingham was arrested at the city's airport on Tuesday as he returned to the UK.

The accused, in his 20s, was then charged with causing death by dangerous driving and appeared before magistrates on Wednesday, West Midlands Police said.

At the time of his death, Mr Goulbourne - known as Spring-i - was described by his family as "a beacon of light".

"Andell was a kind and generous individual, a mentor to many young people. He always sought to serve those less fortunate, this was reflected in his role as a volunteer charity worker," they said in a police statement.
