A man has denied sexually assaulting and murdering a woman in Cumbria.
Paul Irwin, 50, was charged with murdering Tiffany Render after officers were called to a house in George Street, Whitehaven, on 22 March.
He is also accused of a serious sexual assault against the 34-year-old, who was from Whitehaven.
The family of Ms Render said she was "sorely missed" and they would "treasure every memory of her".
Mr Irwin, of George Street, Whitehaven, appeared before Carlisle Crown Court on Tuesday via a video link.
He wore a dark blue and white Fred Perry T-shirt and spoke only to confirm his name and enter the two not guilty pleas.
A trial has been listed for 12 November.
