A controlled explosion has been carried out on a World War Two shell discovered in County Londonderry.
Police said a “historic piece of munition” was discovered in the Point Road area of Magilligan at about 18:00 GMT on Monday.
Officers stayed at the scene overnight before Ammunition Technical Officers (ATO) carried out a controlled explosion on Tuesday, police said.
Police said the device has now been confirmed to be an unexploded WW2 shell.
“The area has now re-opened to motorists and members of the public, with all cordons having been lifted,” Insp Burns has said.
