Two men arrested after crash closes motorway overnight

Two men have been arrested after a serious crash which closed a motorway for more than eight hours.

A Honda Civic hit a tree beside the M3 northbound between junction 6 for Basingstoke, Hampshire, and junction 5 for Hook, shortly after 22:20 BST on Friday 4 October.

A man was taken to hospital and the motorway was closed until 07:00 the following morning.

Two men, aged 33 and 34 and from Basingstoke, have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Both men have been released under investigation, police said.
