Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted child abduction.

Five children were approached on Homerton Road in Middlesbrough on Tuesday, Cleveland Police said, but they all managed to run away and tell an adult what had happened.

Officers arrested two men, aged 51 and 53, in nearby Ormesby Road and they remain in police custody while investigations continue.

The force said it will maintain a presence in the area to reassure the community and asked anyone with concerns to speak with officers.
