An 82-year-old man who died after being attacked in the street has been named by police.

Giovanni Cecaro, from Slough, Berkshire, was assaulted at the junction of Stoke Road and Elliman Avenue at about 15:50 BST on 24 September, officers previously said.

He died in hospital on Sunday and Thames Valley Police has now launched a murder investigation.

Two boys, aged 15 and 16, were arrested on 25 September on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

The teenagers, from the town, were later released on bail.

Previously police said the incident was "isolated" and there was no wider risk to the public.

Detectives said they were supporting Mr Cecaro's family, who had requested privacy and did not wish to make any further statement.
