A 27-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was stabbed by three others in an "extremely violent attack", police have said.
Lancashire Constabulary arrested the man on Tuesday after the attack at the junction of Stan Mortensen Avenue and Princess Street in Blackpool at about midnight.
The force said a local man in his 30s was attacked "by at least three offenders" and was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Det Insp Jill Vescovi said: "This was an extremely violent attack on a public street which could easily have resulted in a man's death."
The victim's family is being supported and updated by specially trained officers.
Police have been speaking to witnesses, searching properties whilst investigating CCTV footage.
The force is asking anyone who has footage or information to come forward.
Det Insp Vescovi said: "I still believe that there are witnesses, or people who are aware of what happened, who have not yet come forward.
"You may see extra officers out and about in the area over the next day or two so if you have any information or concerns please do feel free to speak to them."
