The body of a man who went overboard from a ferry more than four months ago has been found on an Argyll and Bute beach.

A major search was launched after the man fell from Western Ferries' Sound of Shuna travelling between Gourock and Dunoon on 15 June.

HM coastguard crews, a helicopter, lifeboats and several private vessels searched the Firth of Clyde for hours after he was reported missing.

Police said that a body found at Kilcreggan Beach on 12 October has now been confirmed as the missing man. There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.

Formal identification has taken place and his next of kin have been informed.
