A new mobile network tower designed to look like a yacht mast has been installed in the north of Guernsey.

Sure, which supplies telecommunication and IT services for the island, built the 4G mast at Beaucette Marina.

A spokesperson said the new mast would improve mobile download and upload speeds and improve the quality of service.

Mobile engineer Adi Byrne said flags could be flown from the top of the mast to improve the look of the marina.

The mast was lifted into place on 5 August and is now fully operational, the company said.
