Road closures for Humber Bridge Half Marathon

The race crosses the bridge into Barton-upon-Humber and back again

A number of roads will be closed on Sunday morning due to the Humber Bridge Half Marathon.

The 13 mile (21km) race starts in Hessle before crossing the bridge into Barton-Upon-Humber and ending back in Hessle.

The race attracts about 2,000 runners, although the 2022 race was cancelled after only 400 people signed up.

Many competitors are sponsored to raise money for various charities.

The race starts and ends at Hessle High School and there will be a series of rolling road closures from 08:00 to 12:00 BST.

The affected roads are:

  • A15 Slip Road Southbound from Humber Bridge and northbound towards Humber Bridge from junction with A1077

  • A1077 Ferriby Road between A15 roundabout and Holydyke eastbound

  • B1218 Westfield Road between Holydyke and Fleetgate

  • B1218 Fleetgate between Westfield Road and High Street

  • B1218 Castledyke West full length

  • B1218 Waterside Road full length (access maintained in and out of Maltkiln Road)

  • Far Ings Road full length and Gravel Pit Road full length

  • A1077 Ferriby Road between Gravel Pit Road and A15 roundabout

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area.
