A motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash near a beauty spot in the Peak District.

Police said the rider crashed into a barrier on the A57 just after the junction leading to the Ladybower Reservoir car park, near Bamford in Derbyshire, at about 17:30 BST on Saturday.

The injured man, in his 30s, was taken to hospital and his family has been informed, the force said.

An investigation has been launched to establish how the crash happened.

Police said the man was riding an orange KTM Superduke bike from the direction of Sheffield towards Glossop when he crashed.

Anyone with information or relevant video footage has been asked to contact officers.
