Experts from the crown dependencies will be in Jersey this week to discuss what can be done to protect and enhance the natural environment
The 2024 installment of the annual Inter-Island Environment Meeting [IIEM] will take place on Thursday and Friday.
Groups such as Guernsey Nature Commission, the Alderney Wildlife Trust and the Manx Wildlife Trust should be attending.
Hosted at the Société Jersiaise and Jersey Museum in St Helier, speakers will explore how to prevent environmental guidance being ignored by government and stakeholders.
'Protection and enhancement'
Delegates will be attending from across the Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight and the UK.
Founded in 2000, the IIEM brings together island governments, charities, businesses and individuals working in the environmental sector.
This year the organisers said talks would focus on the role of government and organisations and their strategies on conservation, protection and enhancement of the natural environment.
Organisers said the 2024 IIEM would explore how to prevent strategies from being ignored and how they can be worked into organisations daily decisions and become part of the way the wider public expect them to work.
This event is partnered by the Government of Jersey, Société Jersiaise, National Trust for Jersey, Jersey Biodiversity Centre, Aspiring Jersey Island GeoPark, Jersey National Park, and is sponsored by Jersey Seafaris.
