Grange Quarry plans have been expanded to include holiday lodges

A quarry site could become a private lakeside holiday retreat under plans submitted to Doncaster Council.

Plans were previously approved to turn Grange Quarry at Finningley into public fishing lakes after work at the site ends in 2029.

The new proposals would see the number of lakes reduced and made private, with 100 holiday lodges spread among them.

The applicant, North Lincs Property, said it wanted to create a "quiet retreat" centred around nature.

The application said the lakes would focus on biodiversity, instead of being primarily stocked for fishing, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

Around 200 parking spaces would be created for visitors, accessed from the existing crossroads on Bank End Road, with no new roads to be built.

A statement in support of the application described the plan as “a positive addition supporting biodiversity and providing economic growth to this rural area".
