A man has been charged with publishing written material to stir up racial hatred, following an investigation into offensive messages.

Ehsan Hussain, 25, from Yardley, Birmingham, appeared before Birmingham Magistrates Court on Thursday.

West Midlands Police said messages were posted on an instant messaging platform during the recent disorder.

Mr Hussain was remanded ahead of a further hearing at Birmingham Magistrates Court on 11 September.
