Ten fire engines responded to the blaze in Monk's Gate

Firefighters have tackled a large wildfire near Horsham.

A total of 10 fire engines and a water carrier responded to the blaze at Saxton Farm in Nuthurst Road, Monk's Gate, on Sunday.

West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service (WSFRS) urged residents living nearby to keep windows and doors closed.

In an update at 16:15 BST, the fire service said crews had brought the fire under control.

Firefighters were dampening down before preparing to leave, WSFRS added.

The service previously called for extra vigilance during dry weather as fires can spread quickly and pose serious risks to people, property and the environment.
