Young man dies in County Kerry drowning incident

A young man has died in a drowning incident in County Kerry on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency services were called after the man in his 20s got into difficulty in the water at Killarney at about 15:30.

The gardaí (Irish police) said the man was removed from the water but was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigations are ongoing into the circumstances of the incident.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place and a file will be prepared for the coroner, the gardaí has said.
