A man arrested over an affray where an unknown liquid was thrown in the faces of three police officers has been released on bail.
Police were called to reports of the affray in King Street, Leicester, at about 04:50 BST on Sunday.
The officers were taken to hospital after the liquid significantly irritated their skin and eyes but have since been discharged, Leicestershire Police said.
The force confirmed on Monday that a 25-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of administering a noxious substance, had been released on police bail while enquiries continued.
While it is unknown what the liquid was, medical professionals do not believe there will be any lasting effects.
Det Insp Jenny Tattersall said: "We know that there were other people in the area at the time the liquid was thrown, and I'd like anyone who may have been contaminated with it to contact us – it may be on items of clothing, and that will be further evidence."
