A former nightclub which has hosted some of the world's biggest DJs is set to reopen in a new venue.

In July, Motion left its Grade-II listed industrial warehouse near Bristol Temple Meads, where it had hosted parties since 2006, after its lease ended.

Bosses have announced a new space in Victoria Terrace, in St Phillips, along with a new event series called Momentum which hopes to host up and coming artists from October.

"Momentum is about building the future of nightlife together," they said.

Several DJs and clubbers told the BBC at the time of Motion' closure that it "owns a piece of their heart".

The nightclub, which was regularly listed as one of the UK's best, closed as its landlord wanted to sell the site and bids put forward by nightclub bosses were not successful.

The Motion team said the new event series will act as a space for artists to experiment and collaborate.

"It's a platform for new music, new ideas, and for Bristol's creative community to thrive," they said.

The series will showcase emerging Bristol artists as well as continue to attract international acts to the city, they added.

According to Motion's social media accounts, the first event at the new venue will be on 18 October.
