Man appears in court over fatal bus stop collision

A man has appeared in court over the death of a teenager who was hit by a car at a bus stop two years ago.
Essex Police and paramedics were called to Stock, near Chelmsford, at about 08:20 GMT on 3 November 2023 after reports two children had been struck by a vehicle.
Freddie Coleman, 15, died at the scene, while the other boy suffered life-changing injuries.
Stephen Mahebadevan, 25, of Orford Crescent, Chelmsford, who faces charges of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving, appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Friday.
Wearing a black jacket, black trousers, black shoes and a green sweater with a shirt and tie underneath, Mr Mahebadevan did not enter a plea and was given unconditional bail.
He is next due to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on 5 January 2026.
