Man, 70, dies in single car crash in Lanarkshire

A 70-year-old man has died in a single car crash in the village of Douglas in South Lanarkshire.

The man was driving a Ford Puma that crashed on the A70 Ayr Road near the Covenanters Way junction at about 15:00 on Sunday.

Emergency services attended but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland said he road was closed for over three hours for investigations.

Road Policing Sgt Jim Dewar said: “Our thoughts are with the family and the friends of the man who died at this difficult time."

Police ask that anyone who was driving in the area at the time or who may have dash-cam footage to get in touch, external.
