A man has been released on bail after his arrest following the discovery of a woman's body in Newtownabbey.

He was arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday by police investigating a report of a suspicious death in the Old Mill Drive area.

However, the police said on Monday night that "the woman's death is not being treated as murder at this time", following a post-mortem examination.

It is understood she was Mary McAdorey.

Det Ch Insp Tom Phillips said police enquiries are continuing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the death.

Earlier on Monday, Sinn Féin councillor Taylor McGrann said "the whole community is in shock".

There was a cordon placed at the side door of the property where she lived and a police car outside.

Neighbours say this is a quiet area where many of the residents are older people. They have been trying to take in what has happened.

This afternoon the police investigation has ramped up with forensics officers making their way inside the property and a larger police presence based outside.
