Airport bosses have apologised to passengers after long queues at security led to people missing their flights.

Jersey Airport said there was earlier disruption after one of its security scanners went out of service which led to a "longer than usual time to get through security for the early flights".

Airport operations manager Eddie Afonso said a "small number of people" missed flights and "that's not the experience we want for anyone".

"We deployed extra team members to help, but we recognise that for some, it wasn't enough," he said.

The airport said the scanner was back in service and 17 passengers who missed their flights were now on their way.
