States contract for upkeep of 800 benches

Jersey States are looking for a contractor to check and repair the island's 800 wooden benches.
Each States-owned bench has a unique identifying code attached to it.
The States said it was launching a four-year rolling contract from 2025 to 2028 for someone to check the wood and metal fixings, and refurbish them as necessary.
It said the role would include checking timbers, steel work, paintwork and all fixings in timbers, including the bolts anchoring the benches to the floor.
The successful applicant, according to the Government of Jersey , externalportal, would also be expected to log all inspected benches using a "government QR code affixed to each bench".
Each year, 220 benches deemed to be "in worst state of repair" would be refurbished, it said.
