History films donated to heritage centre

A number of films documenting the history of Corby have been donated to the town's heritage centre.

Paul Balmer and Judy Caine, two former BAFTA nominees, gave over 23 films showcasing the town’s historical, cultural, and artistic heritage from 1585 to 2022.

The films will be available for use by schools, community groups, events, and research purposes.

Mr Balmer and Ms Caine said they were "delighted" to be asked by the council to collate the "important collection" of films for future generations to enjoy.

The film collection features the history of Corby’s Pole Fair, the story of P.L.U.T.O. (highlighting how Corby’s Men and Women of Steel contributed to winning the Second World War), and more recent stories from Corby’s Polish, Latvian, and Scottish communities.

Since 2014 young people aged 11 to 24 have been mentored by Mr Balmer and Ms Caine at their community interest company, so they could get work experience in media enabling future careers in film, television, radio and webcasting.
