Police are treating the erection of a sign in County Tyrone as a racially motivated hate incident.

The sign, reading "no illegal immigrants for 1 mile," was put up in Moygashel, just outside Dungannon, on Monday.

Police said it has now been removed by officers.

SDLP councillor Malachy Quinn said the sign was "absolutely disgusting".

'Absolutely disgusting'

"I'm proud to work alongside those who have come here to make a better life for themselves, and I'd choose them any day of the week over the likes of those making these signs," said Mr Quinn.

"No one has the right to tell anyone where they can and cannot go."

Police have asked anyone with information on the signage to contact them.
