Police are appealing for information about a "shocking and violent" incident in which a man was stabbed in his arm and leg.

Sussex Police said officers were called to a report of three men "stealing property" from a 20-year-old local man in Creasys Drive, Crawley, at about 03:30 BST on Sunday.

He was taken to hospital but was later discharged, police added.

Ch Insp Pauline Lane said: "This was a shocking and violent incident which took place in the middle of the night.

"Fortunately, the victim will make a full recovery but this is a distressing time for him and his family."

She added that the force was "urgently appealing" for information on the incident.

Anyone who can help the force with their investigation is asked to contact Sussex Police.
