A man has been arrested following reports of indecent exposure and suspicious activity in a popular park.

Avon and Somerset Police said officers were called to Ninesprings Country Park, in Addlewell Lane, Yeovil, at about 15:30 GMT on Sunday.

Police said officers arrested a man in his 30s at the park on suspicion of public order offences, resisting arrest and outraging public decency.

PC Adam Marsden, of the Yeovil neighbourhood policing team, said the force understood the news "may be alarming to members of our community".

"I would like to reassure them that we are undergoing a full and thorough investigation into the incident and one person remains in police custody," he said.

"Members of the public can expect to see a heightened police presence in the area while inquiries continue into the incident."

Anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious relating to the incident has been asked to contact police.
