A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a teenage boy was stabbed during a Worcestershire town's carnival.

The incident happened close to public toilets in Severn Meadows, Stourport-on-Severn, at about 21:00 BST on Saturday.

The victim, also aged 17, sustained stab wounds that are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing, said West Mercia Police. The arrested teenager is in custody as the investigation continues.

"We know many families would have been out enjoying the carnival in Stourport yesterday, and this will be a concerning incident to many," said Det Insp Edward Jones.

"Please be reassured we are carrying out a full and thorough investigation and a suspect is in custody," he added.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has information about it, is being asked to contact the police.
