Plans for 730 homes and new school unveiled

Developers are proposing to build hundreds of homes at a site near Meopham

A developer has said it wants to build 730 houses at an agricultural site in Kent.
Planning agents Iceni Projects, on behalf of "the McManus family", has created a website outlining the proposal to build on a site on Camer Road, near Meopham.
The consultancy said on the site that a primary school would also be built at the "highly sustainable location".
Meopham resident Caroline Halfpenny told the Local Democracy Reporting Service that "a lot of people are very upset" about the scheme, adding: "It's a little lane and they're proposing 730 houses."
"It's a lot of houses in a small area, what else can I say. It's just bonkers."
Ms Halfpenny claimed the homes would not address local need and instead be for "people who want to live in executive homes in a rural setting".
Iceni Projects said the proposal would involve "private sale and affordable homes to meet a wide range of needs".
The developers have not yet submitted an outline planning application for the development but have begun preliminary stages of the planning process.
In a report to Gravesham Borough Council, Iceni Projects said work was "likely to commence in 2028 subject to planning permission".
