Plans for 158 homes on factory site to be considered

Plans to build 158 homes and a 72-bed care home on the site of a former tumble dryer factory are to be considered next week.
Barratt Homes and Torsion Care want to develop the 19.5 acre (7.9 hectare) site of the former Crosslee factory in Brighouse Road, Hipperholme.
More than 30 objections to the plan have been submitted, with several citing concerns around additional traffic in the area
However, a report due to go before the Calderdale Council's planning committee on 1 October states the impact on the road network would not be "severe" and recommends the scheme for approval pending a number of conditions.
Outline planning permission for the proposed development was granted in 2022.
The Crosslee scheme comes in addition to another 176-home scheme earmarked for land on the opposite side of Brighouse Road of the former Southedge Quarry site, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
Among the opposition to the plans, one objector claims: “Hipperholme lights are often queued back considerably further than the entrance to Crosslee and a further 160 plus houses will make this a nightmare junction once again without adequate planning.”
However, the report, external said: "Whilst acknowledging the concerns of local residents about the impact of the proposal on the nearby highway network, including the Hipperholme crossroads, it is concluded that it would not result in a residual cumulative impact on the road network that could be determined to be severe."
