Smoke from burning field affecting M1 traffic

Smoke from a burning field of crops in Derbyshire is affecting drivers on the M1.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to a large fire off Chesterfield Road in Tibshelf at about 15:35 BST.

Five fire engines and a water carrier were sent to the scene, a spokesperson said.

A "smoke plume" was affecting both sides of the motorway near to Tibshelf Services between junctions 29 and 28, they added.

People living nearby were advised to close their windows and doors.
