Two men have been arrested in connection with the death of a woman in Staffordshire.

Police said officers were called to a home on Devereux Gardens, Great Haywood, at about 17:00 GMT on Wednesday.

The woman was found inside and taken to hospital where she later died, Staffordshire Police said.

The incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct following previous police contact.

Staffordshire Police said a 50-year-old man, from the Rugeley area, was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of murder and controlling or coercive behaviour.

A 24-year-old man, from the Stafford area, was arrested earlier on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug.

Both remain in custody.

Officers said there would be a heightened police presence in the area over the next few days and anyone with information should contact the force.
