Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was kicked and punched by a man attempting to rob her in Derby.

The incident happened at about 20:30 BST on 8 August when a woman in her 30s was approached by a man as she walked along King Street, on the bridge over St Alkmund’s Way.

Derbyshire Police said the man grabbed the woman from behind, punching and kicking her as he tried to steal her bag.

The woman managed to keep hold of her bag and the man walked away towards the Flowerpot pub, the force added, as they appealed for witnesses or dashcam footage of the incident.
