A bonfire night fireworks display is set to return to the Isle of Man's capital next month, the local authority has confirmed.

The spectacle, organised by Douglas Council, will be held at 19:00 GMT on 5 November.

The free event, which will see fireworks light up the skies over the bay set to music from the movies, attracts thousands of people to the city.

Regeneration and Community Committee chairman Andrew Bentley said it was "one of the highlights" in the island’s calendar "in a safe and secure setting".

The night was "a firm favourite with young and old alike" and the 2024 display "promises to dazzle the crowds again", Mr Bentley said.

The event will start with the judging of a Best Guy competition, followed by the display on Harris Promenade.

The local authority has asked those attending have been asked not to bring pets or their own fireworks to the display, including sparklers.

People have also been advised to avoid Douglas and Onchan Head due traffic build-ups.
