Wessex Water said there would be a one-day lane closure on Herbert Avenue

A road will be partially closed to allow for the temporary fix of a collapsed sewer pipe.

Wessex Water said the damaged pipe underneath Ringwood Road in Poole, Dorset, would be replaced with a temporary pipe ready for full repairs at a later date.

The company said this was to avoid worsening traffic across the town.

To allow the work to take place, there will be a one-day lane closure on Herbert Avenue in the direction of Ringwood Road on Monday.

The pipe will be installed in the pavement from Herbert Avenue outside Horizon Honda Poole, round to the point of the collapse on Ringwood Road.

A Wessex Water spokesperson said: "Due to other roadworks taking place nearby, we have opted to install a temporary sewer pipe rather than complete the full repair straight away, which will require a southbound closure on a section of Ringwood Road.

"This will avoid worsening traffic in the area while the other roadworks are completed, especially in the run-up to Christmas."

They said Wessex Water would liaise with BCP Council to agree a date for the permanent repair.
