Three teenagers have been charged with attempted murder after a man was stabbed by a group of people in Blackpool.

Lancashire Police were called to the junction of Stan Mortensen Avenue and Princess Street in the resort at about midnight on Tuesday to reports a man in his 30s was attacked "by at least three offenders".

He was taken to hospital with numerous stab wounds where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police have since charged three teenagers from Blackpool, two aged 17 and one aged 16, with attempted murder.

The teenagers, who cannot be named due to their ages, were remanded in custody to appear in Lancashire Magistrates Court earlier.

The force said another man, 27, who was previously arrested on suspicion of attempted murder had been released under investigation.

Another boy, 15, who was also also earlier arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has also been released on conditional bail.
