A short section of a main route through the Isle of Man’s capital is set to be closed for three hours on Sunday morning for the removal of a footbridge.

The metal structure, which stretches over Bray Hill, allows pedestrian access from the inside to the outside of the TT course during racing periods.

The closure, from 06:00-09:00 BST will cause disruption at St Ninian’s Crossroads at Ballaquayle Road, Glencrutchery Road, Bray Hill and Ballanard Road.

The bridge removal is set to take place following the completion of racing on the 37.73-mile (60km) Mountain Course for the 2024 season.

The work is set to be carried out by contractors Collins Steel on behalf of the Department of Enterprise, which is responsible for the Isle of Man TT and Manx Grand Prix on the course.

Should the weather prevent the work being completed on Sunday, a further road closure order is in place for 29 September.

The structure was put in place in early May.
