Gloucestershire in pics: Sun halos and rainbows
- Published
Our weekly round-up of pictures includes some weather phenomena and a community coming together in Stinchcombe.
There was also a win for Gloucester Rugby this week against Leicester at Kingsholm Stadium.
A cool sight: Thank you to Adam for sending through this 'sun halo' over Leckhampton Hill.
Halos are caused by ice crystals in the air which are usually associated with high-altitude cirrus clouds.
These crystals reflect sunlight, normally producing a white halo.
Community spirit: Stinchcombe residents are near the end of their four-year journey to create a playground.
The volunteers say they want to build the playground to create a safe space to reduce isolation, enhance mental wellbeing, and foster a greater sense of togetherness.
Flooded fields: It has been another week of bad weather conditions with flooding hitting parts of Gloucestershire.
In Brookthorpe, the water is pictured rising in this field. Weather watcher Tone Poet sent this image through to reflect the weather on Monday.
Winners: Gloucester Rugby players run out of the tunnel before game during the Gallagher Premiership match at Kingsholm Stadium.
The Cherry and Whites won the match against Leicester 38-31.
Quick horses: It was another cold day at Cheltenham for this set of racing.
This photo shows Jonjo O'Neill Jr (green/gold) riding Jagwar on their way to winning The Timeform Novices' Handicap Chase at Cheltenham Racecourse on Saturday.
Colour against the grey: Here is a sight we do not see too often - a beautiful rainbow over the village of Wotton-under-Edge.
Thank you to our weather watcher JennyGlos for sending this through.
