A 10-year-old with cerebral palsy has raised almost £1,500 for Children in Need.

Oscar from Shawbury in Shropshire said: "I've watched it every year and it made me a bit sad that some people don't get the help they need."

He has challenged himself to raise money for a different charity every year and over the past three years has raised more than £9,000 in total.

Oscar said: "I can show them even if you've got a disability you can do anything."

His cerebral palsy requires regular physio and exercises and he needs the help of walking aids.

He explained: "I can't stop walking on my tippy toes."

In May he walked up England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike, to raise money for Children in Need.

"At first we went the wrong way, because dad had the map," he recalled.

After they retraced their steps to find the correct route they had an ice cream and his father, Liam, said Oscar was ready to set off again.

"That's just Oscar all over - he didn't let it dishearten him," he said.

He had previously scaled the Wrekin, raising money for cerebral palsy, as well as Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) - fundraising for Stand Up to Cancer.

Next year he plans to climb Ben Nevis, but has not yet named the charity he plans to support.

Liam said he and his wife were "ever so proud of him" and that "everything he does is for other people".
