Thousands reflect in Remembrance Sunday gatherings

Cities and towns across the West Midlands have come together to remember those who have lost their lives in conflict.

There were ceremonies all over the region to mark Remembrance Sunday and honour fallen soldiers.

Thousands gathered at war memorials, museums and other civic locations for parades and quieter reflection.

A two minute silence was also held at 11:00 GMT.

The National Memorial Arboretum hosted its annual event to honour fallen armed forces personnel, with thousands turning out to attend its main service.

In Birmingham, crowds broke out into spontaneous applause as current servicemen and women, veterans and members of the emergency services marched past the city’s cathedral.

Meanwhile, there were huge crowds at events at Coventry's War Memorial Park and Wolverhampton's council building.

Locations where people also marked the occasion included Telford Town Park in Shropshire and Worcester city centre.
