A rapist has been jailed for attacking two vulnerable women in their own homes within hours of each other.
Daniel Hart, 29, raped a woman in her 70s in Poole, Dorset, after entering her home during the night. Hours later, on 15 May, he attacked a woman in her 40s in her flat.
Police said the elderly woman had dementia while the second victim was also "a vulnerable woman with disabilities".
Hart, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to the rape of both women and was jailed on Monday at Bournemouth Crown Court for 20 years.
Dorset Police said officers were alerted to the first incident at 05:15 BST on 15 May and Hart's DNA was found at the scene.
In the second incident, reported shortly before 14:00, the victim was approached by Hart outside her flat before being attacked inside the property.
Moments later, officers responding to a nearby altercation chased a suspect, who turned out to be Hart.
Police said he ran back to the victim's flat and jumped through the lounge window where he was arrested.
Det Insp Jon Sainsbury of Bournemouth CID said: "Thanks to the swift response from officers on the day, and a thorough and determined investigation by detectives afterwards, we were able to hold him to account for his despicable crimes."
