'Significant' blaze at recycling centre put out

More than 50 firefighters attended the fire on Ballygomartin Road in Belfast

A "significant" fire that more than 50 firefighters attended at a recycling facility in Belfast has now been put out.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) received a report of the fire on the Ballygomartin Road at about 20:25 GMT on Tuesday.

There were eight pumping appliances, an aerial appliance, a water tanker and a command support unit in attendance.

There was a large amount of scrap metal on fire and people were asked to avoid the area as firefighters dealt with blaze, which it described as a "significant incident".

The incident was dealt with and closed down at 00:58 on Wednesday.
