A Channel Island has launched its own social media pages to help encourage tourists to visit.

Sark Tourism said it had created official TikTok and YouTube channels to help promote the island to a global audience.

The island, which is about 3.5 miles (5.5 km) long by 1.5 mile (2.5 km) wide, sits off the east coast of Guernsey.

George Timpson from Sark Tourism said it hoped the move would help reach a new younger audience who might not have heard of the island before.

'Wild beauty'

He said: "I believe a lot of people who are backpackers or young families will come across videos on TikTok.

"I think that would be a great target audience for the island."

Mr Timpson said the island's "wild beauty" would interest those looking for something different.

"I really want to promote a lot of the dark sky stuff, the clear stars at night time are just something that I've never seen before and I really want to show that off as much as I can."
