Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with a rape and assault in Perry Barr.

West Midlands Police said officers were called to Walsall Road, near to the One Stop shopping centre, at about 01:50 GMT on Saturday following reports that a woman had been raped.

A short time later, it received a separate report that another woman had been assaulted on Aldridge Road. The force said it was keeping an open mind as to whether the incidents were linked.

The man is described as having short black hair, a slim build and was wearing tracksuit bottoms and a hoodie.

The force has also appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage.

"If you recognise this person or if you were in the area between 1am and 2am and remember seeing him, please get in touch," said Det Supt Adam Jobson from the force's public protection unit.

He said he understood the concern in the local community and added his team were working "around the clock" on the investigation.
